SARAH HEDLIN

BSW, RSW

Registered Social Worker (RSW) (SK) #5270

Hi, I'm Sarah,

I'm proudly non-binary (they/them) and neurodivergent and am based on Treaty 6 (Saskatoon). I offer empathetic, strengths based and judgement free therapy for youth ages twelve years and older, individuals and couples across Saskatchewan.

I have over fifteen years of experience in non-profit mental health. I bring a calm, steady and humorous presence to our sessions. I have a breadth of experience with individuals from all walks of life. I understand how important it is to find a therapist that is the right fit. It is always my goal that you feel heard, respected and understood.

Whether you have experienced trauma and are looking for light at the end of the tunnel, are neurodivergent and trying to find your stride, navigating non-traditional relationships - or working in a high stress profession - I'm here to help.

In our sessions we will explore what makes you uniquely you. What challenges you face, what is impacting you, and what you hope to gain by engaging in therapy. I will listen with an open mind and work with you to identify your strengths, build self compassion, and create an empowered plan for moving forward. Knowledge is power and I strive to provide psychoeducation that helps you to better understand your experience - and communicate about it confidently and effectively.

In my free time I enjoy reading, birdwatching, and spending time with my dogs and family, going to the lake and traveling. Please tell me about your special interests!

 I have experience with:

  • Abuse, Trauma and Sexualized Violence: I have over seven years working with individuals who have experienced trauma and are navigating the impacts of PTSD and Complex PTSD. I believe you, and you are not alone.

  • Trans and Non-Binary Therapy: I am a proud non-binary person and provide gender affirming, specialized approach focused on validating your gender identity. This can look like exploring your own gender identity, support in transition, minority stress experiences, and navigating and healing from discrimination or violence. I have also worked with allies and friends and family seeking to better understand and support their loved one.

  • 2SLGBTQ+:  I am a proud member of the Queer community and provide support for individuals questioning their own sexuality, mental health, experiencing minority stress experiences or are simply looking for a therapist who "gets it".

  • Frontline Service Providers:  Healing from secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma, and burnout.

  • Non Traditional Relationships: I am sex positive, and non-judgmental. Our province is geographically big - but quite small in population, which is why it is important to work with a practitioner who is confidential and understands the spectrum of non-monogamous and non-traditional relationship styles.  BDSM, Kink practicing, Queer Platonic, ACE, and Polyamorous Relationships.
