MARCELA SCOTT

I am a Mexican-Canadian, loving living in the Great White North. I am a wife and a loving mother of a sometimes-too-smart-for-her-own-good toddler and two fur babies (possibly three soon). I am also a nerd who enjoys board-games and a good cup of coffee.
My professional life took me down many different roads, until I finally realized my passion was to listen and help people, particularly those who feel they do not deserve help.
Although I enjoy working with anyone struggling with their mental health, I have a special interest in working with people suffering from trauma and comorbid and differential mental health diagnoses.
My counselling approach draws from different theories as I do not believe one single method works for everyone, and each theory and approach have their own strengths. I work and incorporate elements from CBT, DBT, CT-R, Attachment, Polyvagal and Trauma-Informed therapies.
My passion for Neuroscience and Cognition drives me to continue to learn more about how our brain and body function and react in relation to mental health, particularly, trauma. It is my goal and dream to focus my Master’s studies on this topic.
